Average Household Broadband Usage

The average US broadband home now consumes somewhere around 190 GB per month, according to a new report by iGR. The firm notes that somewhere around 90% of that data consumption is video, with those tallies expected to soar quickly thanks to two things: 4K and HDR video streaming becoming more commonplace, and a greater number of DSL customers fleeing to faster cable connections in the wake of US telco upgrade phobia. The problem: many of those users are flocking to cable providers who have a monopoly over faster speeds, resulting in unnecessary and punitive usage caps and overage fees and historically terrible customer service and pricing.
